Cuando nos referimos a algo que existía en el pasado usamos "There was" para singular y "There were" para  plural. En su forma afirmativa no se pueden contraer.

Si queremos usar  "There was" y"There were" en forma interrogativa debemos invertir el orden, "Was there...? " y "Were there?"

La forma negativa es "There wasn not" y"There were not" y en su forma contraida Seria: "There wasn't" y "There weren't"
