Pronombres reciprocos
Los pronombres recíprocos son aquellos que se usan para expresar una acción mutua entre dos o más personas u objetos.
Los pronombres recíprocos son:
each other | uno al otro, mutuamente |
one another | unos a otros |
Normalmente se usa "each other" cuando nos referimos a dos personas y "one another" cuando nos referimos a más de dos pero en inglés contemporáneo se suelen usar los dos indistintamente.
We love each other/one another.
Nos queremos uno al otro.
They helped each other/one another.
Se ayudaron mutuamente.
No se deben confundir con los reflexivos.
They talked to themselves.
Se hablaban a sí mismos (reflexivo)
They talk to each other.
Se hablaban uno al otro (recíproco)
They hate themselves.
Se odian a sí mismos (reflexivo).
They hate one another.
Se odian mutuamente (recíproco).
Tanto "each other" como "one another" pueden tener una forma posesiva con el llamado genitivo sajón.
They looked into each other's eyes.
Se miraron a los ojos.
