# Mixed Fractions

*The mixed fraction or mixed number* is composed of an

**integer part**and a

**fractional part**.

To convert from a **mixed number** to an improper fraction:

1. The denominator remains the same.

2. The numerator is the addition of the multiplication of the integer by the denominator plus the numerator of the mixed number.

To convert an **improper fraction** to a **mixed fraction**, divide the numerator by the denominator. The quotient becomes the integer of the mixed number and the remainder becomes the numerator of the fraction. The denominator remains the same.

To calcuate the result of a problem with mixed numbers, converte the **mixed numbers** into **improper fractions **and then perform the operations with the **fractions**.
