Dividing Integers
The division is the quotient of the absolute values of the dividend and divisor and the sign of the quotient can be determined using the rule of signs:

10 : 5 = 2
(−10) : (−5) = 2
10 : (−5) = −2
(−10) : 5 = −2
Properties
1.
The result of dividing two integers is not always another integer.
(−2) : 6 ![]()
![]()
2. Is not commutative:
a : b ≠ b : a
6 : (−2) ≠ (−2) : 6
